Gazankulu was named after Lake Gaza and Gazaland in nearby
Mozambique. It was located in the former
Transvaal. Gazankulu was granted internal
self-government in 1973.It ceased to exist as a political entity on 27. April 1994 and has been incorporated into South Africa. Its flag and license plates are no longer in use.
