Brief Background

The Trust Territory of the Pacific Islands (T.T.P.I.) was a jurisdiction administered by the United States which gradually came to an end in the 1980's as the territory split up into the following four island groups:

Marshall Islands
Independent since 1980 Federated States of Micronesia
Independent since 1985 Northern Mariana Islands
Commonwealth in association with the United States Republic of Palau
Independent since 1994
